DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's and women's track programs returned to Daytona Beach, Fla. for the second time this season to compete in the Blue and Gold Invite hosted by Embry-Riddle. The Lions posted 18 top-10 finishes including four event victories. Two of the wins came from sophomore
Robyn Burrows who swept both the women's 100m and 200m events.

SAINT LEO MEN:
- Sophomore Pierre Galbourdin jumped started the Lions day in Daytona Beach as he won the opening 5,000m event outlasting the field in 15:04.75. Sophomore Felix Nadeborn and freshman Conner Chapman joined him in the race. Nadeborn finish in sixth at 15:20.27 while Chapman placed 22nd after crossing the line in 17:58.67.
- Sophomore Fabio Fornarelli led a quartet of Lions in the 1,500m. Fornarelli took third with a time of 4:07.25 while freshman Maxime Saint-Martin placed 14th after stopping the clock at 4:21.58. Freshman Aidan O'Leary was next to cross the line in 16th at 4:23.88 while freshman Jacob Barnes rounded out the Lions in 27th with a time of 4:41.20.
- Freshman Vineet Shinde was the first Lion in 2021 to make an appearance in a field event and took third in the long jump. Shinde touched down at 5.11m (16-09.25) to pick up a podium finish.
- Senior Andrew Sands joined Shinde in the 100m. Sands led the duo with a fifth place finish at 12.25 while Shinde finished two spots back in seventh at 14.13.
- Fornarelli led a trio of Lions in the 800m. Fornarelli took sixth at 2:05.95 while Saint-Martin placed 17th after stopping the clock at 2:12.62. Barnes rounded out the group in 23rd at 2:16.01.

SAINT LEO WOMEN:
- Sophomore Robyn Burrows picked up a pair of victories Saturday as she swept the 100m and 200m events. Burrows led three Lions in the 100m. She took the top spot in 13.50 while junior Maryleslie Javier finished seven spots back in eighth at 15.34. Freshman Barbara Whitty rounded out the group in 10th at 15.61. The same trio were joined by redshirt sophomore Skyelar Aguilar in the 200m. Burrows led the way in first at 27.98. Aguilar finished one spot back in second at 28.81, for a one-two finish. Whitty picked up a sixth place finish at 32.79 while Javier rounded out the group in ninth at 35.93. Â Â Â
- Sophomore Tania Jarreau and junior Aoife Mahony picked up a one-two finish in the 800m as Jarreau led the way at 2:24.14 followed closely by Mahony at 2:26.63. Aguilar came across next for the Lions in 13th at 2:37.23 while junior Kerry Reilly rounded out the group in 21st with a time of 2:42.90.
- Mahony also took second in the 1,500m as she completed the distance in 4:56.74. Freshman Anna O'Connor earned a top-five finish in fourth after crossing the line at 5:00.53. Reilly closed up the Lion trio at 18th with a time of 5:25.47.

Keeping Our Lions Healthy & Safe
Saint Leo University Athletics is keeping our student-athletes healthy and safe by following a number of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes having student-athletes tested or screened on a regular basis, traveling in smaller groups, holding competitions without fans in attendance, avoiding overnight trips, and wearing masks when not competing. These safety standards meet those set by the NCAA Division II and the Sunshine State Conference President's Council. At Saint Leo University, the COVID-19 Incident Command Team also reviews the teams' safety protocol and monitors adherence on a regular basis.
