Lions Fall to Tampa on Day Two of Dual Meet

TAMPA, Fla. - The Saint Leo men's swimming team competed in the final day of a two-day dual meet on Sunday versus 12th-ranked Tampa at the UT Aquatics Center. This is the last meet the Lions will be competing in before going on a four week break. 

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Day Two Score: Tampa 114.5, Saint Leo 67.5
Location: UT Aquatics Center | Tampa, Fla.

TOP PERFORMERS:
  • For the second day in a row, the relay team of Hampus Lovinge, Carlos Nava, Jakub Kwasny, and Szymon Leszega took first place in their race. On Saturday it was the 400 medley. And on Sunday it was the 200 medley. Beating out three Tampa squads, the Lions took first with a time of 1:32.10. The same relay team also had an impressive second place in the 200 freestyle relay. They finished behind Tampa with a time of 1:25.04. 
  • Individually, all four members of the relay team had first place finishes. Carlos Nava won the 200 freestyle, beating out Tampa's Parker Knollman with a time of 1:41.35. 
  • Jakub Kwasny took first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.98.
  • Szymon Leszega came in first in the 100 freestyle, just beating out Tampa's Brian Daugherty with a time of 46.17. 
  • Hampus Lovinge took first in the 100 backstroke, finishing with a time of 50.90.

UP NEXT:
Saint Leo now goes on a four week hiatus before returning to action on December 17, competing in the Spartan Invite at the UT Aquatics Center on the campus of the University of Tampa.
