Spartans Lead Lions after Day One

TAMPA, Fla. - The Saint Leo women's swimming team competed in the first day of a two day dual meet on Saturday versus 12th-ranked Tampa at the UT Aquatics Center. This is the last meet the Lions will be competing in before going on a four week break. 

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Day One Score: Tampa 137, Saint Leo 48
Location: UT Aquatics Center, Tampa, Fla. 

TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Vittori Bonsanti Feniello had herself a day in multiple races. She took first place in the 1000 freestyle beating out four Spartans, including Tampa's Jessie Tobin by one second, finishing with a time of 10:27.88. Bonsanti Feniello also finished in third place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.91.
  • Anett Daka took first place in the 200 freestyle, narrowly beating out Tampa's Megan Goldthorpe with a time of 1:55.53.
  • Bonsanti Feniello and Daka were also part of the 400 freestyle relay team that finished in second. With Daka leading the way, Elze Bielskute and Emma Bjoernholdt keeping pace in the middle, and Bonsanti Feniello finishing it out, the Lions took second with a time of 3:36.31.
UP NEXT:

Saint Leo will return to Tampa on Sunday, Nov. 21 for the final day of the meet with the Spartans, with the first race scheduled for 11:00 AM.
