Bracken Takes Second; Lions Place 9th at UAH Invitational Saturday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Saint Leo men's cross country competed in their final regular-season meet Saturday morning in Huntsville, Ala. at the UAH Invitational, where the Lions placed ninth out of 33 teams in the field with 281 points. Highlighting the final tune-up was Shane Bracken who placed second out of the 341 runners that finished the race. 

Bracken, a native of Foxford, Ireland, took second place in a time of 23:51.54 for his third consecutive race in the top-10. His second-place finish at the UAH Invitational adds to his first place at the season-opening Mountain Dew Invitational and seventh place at the NCAA DII National Preview a week ago. Bracken finished the UAH Invite as the top-SSC runner, besting Mason Jones of Florida Southern by three places and nearly six seconds. 

Joining Bracken in the point scoring for the Green and Gold were Arthur Cosson, Fabio Fornarelli, Lucas Liard, Yassin Raffay, Alex Giraudineau, and Aidan O'Leary. Cosson finished inside the top-15 with a time of 24:19.67 for 15th place. Fornarelli and Liard came inside the top-100 runners in times of 25:45.44 (91st) and 25:47.18 (94th), respectively.

Pittsburg State took home top honors with a total of 90 points. Missouri Southern's Ryan Riddle earned the medalist honors with a time of 23:47.76.
