CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Saint Leo beach volleyball team continued play in the CofC Creekside Beach Classic hosted by the College of Charleston Sunday. It was an early morning for the Lions as their first match began at 8:30 a.m. after losing an hour of sleep due to daylight saving time going into effect early Sunday morning.  The Lions fell to a pair of NCAA Division I programs including Coastal Carolina, who was one of four teams in the others receiving votes category in the most recent AVCA Top-20 poll, and the host College of Charleston.

Saint Leo dropped the opening match to the Chanticleers 4-1. Freshmen
Megan Keating and
Phoebe Hammond brought home the lone victory for the Lions as they battled to a 21-19, 17-21, 16-14 victory at No. 5. The Lions' No. 1 duo and No. 4 duo each scored a total of 30 points in their respective matches. Sophomore

Nina Vattovaz dropped the No. 1 match 21-11, 21-19 while sophomore
Kirsten Kaiser and freshman
Skylar Singleton fell at No. 4 21-15, 21-15. Â

The Lions will be back in action Thursday, March 12 at 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. as they host both Tusculum and Palm Beach Atlantic for a tri-match at the Saint Leo Beach Volleyball Courts. Â
