PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's tennis, ranked sixth nationally, fell in a tight 4-3 match at West Florida, ranked seventh nationally, on Saturday.
West Florida (6-1) swept Saint Leo (5-4) for the doubles point. The Lions made some noise with victories coming at second, third, and fourth singles.
Kristyna Jurkova, who is ranked 31st in singles play, surprised Irene Recuenco, who is ranked sixth, in a dominate 6-0, 6-1 decision. Despite the two spot upset, the Argonauts topped the Lions in the form of two three-set wins at five and six spots following a win at first singles.
