SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo beach volleyball team opened the home portion of their 2020 schedule Monday afternoon by hosting both Erskine and Tennessee Martin for a tri-match. The Lions opened the day with a 5-0 sweep of Erskine before falling in the afternoon to UTM 4-1.

The Lions lone pair to go unbeaten were sophomore
Arlaina Stephenson and junior
Nina Vattovaz at No. 1 as they won 21-12, 21-12 against the Flying Fleet of Erskine and 19-21, 21-15, 15-6 against the Skyhawks of Tennessee Martin.

Freshmen
Skylar Singleton and
Morgan Leadens played a pair of exhibition matches at No. 6 and won against both Erskine and UTM. They won 21-13, 25-23 in the opening match before taking the afternoon affair 21-16, 23-21.

Anna Garrett teamed up with freshman
Marissa Rakauskas at No. 2 versus Erskine and won 21-14, 21-13. Freshman
Madi Certain and sophomore
Payton Bellano comprised duo No. 3 for the Lions and they took their match versus the Flying Fleet in comeback fashion 17-21, 21-14, 15-6.

Megan Keating earned a win at No. 4 21-11, 21-13 while sophomore
Kirsten Kaiser, who transferred to Saint Leo from Erskine, and freshman
Phoebe Hammond won at No. 5 23-21, 21-17.

The Lions will return to action Wednesday, March 4 as they welcome Tennessee Martin back to campus as well as St. Petersburg College, who the Lions battled last weekend. The tri-match is set to begin at noon with the Lions taking on UTM. Â
