DELAND, Fla. – The Saint Leo beach volleyball team suffered a pair of losses Friday afternoon as the Lions faced 18
th-ranked Florida Atlantic and Saint Petersburg College at the Stetson Spring Fling in DeLand, Fla. Saint Leo suffered a sweep at the hands of FAU, 5-0, before losing in a tight match to SPC 3-2.

Freshmen
Michelle Cuervo and
Megan Keating teamed up at No. 4 against SPC and brought home one of two victories for the Lions. The duo won 21-9, 17-21, 15-9 in a hard fought match, The other victory came at No. 5 for the Lions as freshmen
Madi Certain and
Phoebe Hammond earned the win 21-14 and 21-11.

No. 1 through No. 3 for the Lions fell in straight sets in the SPC match.

The match versus nationally-ranked FAU saw all five matches go in straight sets plus an exhibition sixth match. Sophomore

The Lions will return to action tomorrow, February 29 as they take on a pair of nationally-ranled programs at the Stetson Spring Fling including Georgia State and Stetson. Â
