CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Saint Leo beach volleyball team had a tough afternoon Saturday as the Lions battled both the weather and two tough opponents. With intermittent rain and some high winds the Lions took on both Webber and Palm Beach Atlantic down in West Palm Beach. The Lions fell 3-2 in both contests evening their seasonal record to 2-2.

In the opening match freshmen
Megan Keating and
Kirsten Kaiser picked up the first point of the match with a 21-18, 21-14 win at No. 5. The Warriors tied the match at 1-1 with a 21-16, 21-18 win at No. 4 and then stretched that lead to 2-1 with a 21-19, 21-15 victory at No. 3. The match would be decided at No. 2 as the Warriors won 21-15, 21-19. Junior
Nina Vattovaz and redshirt sophomore
Anna Garrett earned the Lions other point with a 21-12, 15-21, 16-14 victory at No. 1.

In the second match of the day versus PBA four of the five matches went to three games. The Sailfish won at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5. The Lions picked up wins at No. 1 with Vattovaz and Garrett earning a 16-21, 21-18, 19-17 come-from-behind victory. The other win came at No. 3 as freshman
Marissa Rakauskas and sophomore
Arlaina Stephenson teamed up to pick up a 24-22, 19-21, 15-13 victory.

The Lions will return to action Saturday, February 22 as they take on Warner and Bryant & Stratton in Babson Park, Fla. at the Webber Campus Beach Volleyball Courts.
