BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Saint Leo men's and women's track teams traveled back to Birmingham, Ala., Friday as they opened up competition at the Green and Gold Invitational hosted by the University of Alabama Birmingham. The Lions posted top 10 finishes in every event in which they competed despite facing several NCAA Division I programs. Â

TOP PERFORMERS
SAINT LEO MEN:
- Junior Shane Bracken and senior Blake Watson posted a one-two finish in the mile. Bracken bested the field in 4:15.13 while Watson followed close behind at 4:17.06
- Senior Shawn Bell took third in the 3,000m. Bell crossed the line in 8:45.42.

SAINT LEO WOMEN:
- Freshman Sintayehu Vissa picked up the first victory of her young career as she took first in the 800m. Vissa stopped the clock at 2:16.34.
- Sophomore Paige Patterson took third in the 3,000m as she turned in a time of 10:19.61.
- Sophomore Skyelar Aguilar earned a top-five finish as she took fifth in the 600m. She completed the distance in 1:41.63.
- Freshman Robyn Burrows took eighth in the 300m with a time of 43.31.
