NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America announced its 2018-19 Outstanding Team Academic Award winners where the Saint Leo University men's golf team was one of 193 schools in the country to earn the award.

The Lions finished the season with a 3.42 GPA where to make the list the team had to achieve a 3.00 GPA or higher for the year. The 193 schools were made up of NCAA Divisions I, II, III and the NAIA and the NJCAA.

A total of 32 Division II schools received the honor with five achieving the recognition from the Sunshine State Conference, in Barry, Florida Tech, Florida Southern, Palm Beach Atlantic and Saint Leo.

Newberry, who was the NCAA Division II Academic National Champion, had the highest overall team GPA for the year. A total of 32 schools earned Presidents Special Recognition Honors, finishing with a team GPA of 3.5 and above.
