KINGSVILLE, Texas – Sophomore
Shane Bracken of the Saint Leo men's track team wrapped up action at the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship Saturday evening as he took eighth in the 1,500m in a race in which the top eight finishers were separated by less than two seconds.
Â
Bracken crossed the finish line in 3:59.93 to finish just 1.69 seconds behind the NCAA Champion, Brett Meyer of Fort Hays State. Bracken sat in fourth with one lap left in the event but a late surge pushed him four spots back into eighth.
Â
The sophomore finished ahead of runners from Stonehill, Sioux Falls (x2) and Queens in the 12 man field. The seventh place finisher, Victor Moreau from the Academy of Art, came out just 28 hundredths of a second ahead of Bracken. Â
