MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The fourth-seeded Saint Leo women's tennis team closed its season in the NCAA South Regional I Championship on Tuesday. After a series of weather delays, the first-seeded Barry Buccaneers handed the Lions a 4-0 loss. Saint Leo finished the season with a 20-7 overall record.

The Green and Gold fell short in a fierce battle against the Buccaneers in doubles play. Barry claimed the first flight 6-1 which was answered by third flight duo
Marta Vicens Miquel and
Anna Marija Bukina with a 7-5 decision. The doubles match point came down to a tiebreaker, where the hosts escaped the Lions' efforts; 7-6 (7-2).

Barry tallied its second match point quickly taking fourth singles 6-3, 6-0. After another weather delay, the teams resumed play briefly, where the Buccaneers won the second flight; 6-4, 6-3.

Weather prolonged the match again but Barry prevailed clinching the match 6-4, 6-4 in the sixth flight.
