SAINT LEO, Fla. – No. 13 Saint Leo women's golf started off the 2019 Sunshine State Conference with a solid 299 (+11) to sit tied for third with No. 1 Barry after 18-holes on the South Course at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club.
Synne Lauritzen, a sophomore from Sarpsborg, Norway, paced the Green and Gold and is sitting sixth after round one with a one-over 73. Just off her heels is
Isabel Nesteus, a sophomore from Hoellviken, Sweden, sitting in seventh at 74 (+2). Lauritzen carded four birdied on the day while Nesteus sank three.
Izzy Lawrence, a junior from Glencoe, Trinidad & Tobago, and
Jasmin Pnaiser, a sophomore from Hagley, England, are tied for 13th at four-over 76. The lone freshman on the course for the Lions,
Louise Henningsson, who hails from Granna, Sweden, is tied for 43rd following her opening round 83 (+11).
Kiira Riihijarvi, the no. 1 player in division II according to GolfStat's adjusted score average, is sitting atop the leaderboard at three-under 69. No. 4 Nova Southeastern is the clubhouse leader after round one at 295 (+7), and holds a three-stroke lead over No. 8 Lynn.
