TAMPA, Fla. – The Saint Leo beach volleyball team closed out the 2019 regular season with a tough loss at the University of Tampa. The Spartans jumped ahead early in the contest and went on for the 5-0 sweep.

Amber Lake and
Nina Vattovaz played a close match at No. 1 as they fell 22-20, 21-18.
Beka Wachob and
Brooke Turner posted nearly identical scores at No. 2 as they dropped their contest 21-18, 21-19.

Anilise Fitzi and
Payton Bellano also played a close contest at No. 4. The duo fell 21-19, 21-19. The Spartans took the No. 3 match 21-14, 21-16 while winning at No. 5 21-15, 21-15.

Lake and Vattovaz conclude the regular season with the most wins on the team with an 8-11 record. Turner and Wachob, Bellano and Fitzi and
Annabella Arcari and
Arlaina Stephenson all finished with seven wins during the season to finish second on the squad.

The Lions will now turn their focus on the AVCA Small College Beach Championship which will take place April 19-21. The Lions went 2-3 at last year's championship.
