ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Saint Leo beach volleyball team picked up its fourth victory of the season Saturday afternoon as they split a pair of matches at the Battle on the Bay. The Lions fell in their opening match to North Florida 5-0 before defeating Webber International 4-1 in their final contest of the weekend.

The Lions won the No. 2 through No. 5 matches against Webber International while dropping the No. 1 contest. Four of the five matches went to three games with the lone two-game match coming at No. 2 as
Brooke Turner and
Beka Wachob took their contest 21-13, 21-18.

Kirsten Kaiser and
Sam Bogdan won at No. 3 19-21, 21-14 and 15-8.
Anilise Fitzi and
Payton Bellano won a back-and-forth contest at No. 4 26-24, 15-21, 15-7. The final victory at No. 5 came from
Annabella Arcari and Arlaina Stephson who topped their Warrior opponents 21-18, 17-21 and 15-8.

The Warriors won at No. 1 21-16, 19-21, 15-5.

The Ospreys of North Florida won all five matches against the Lions in two games. Fitzi and Bellano put up the toughest fight as they fell at No. 4 21-18, 21-15. Â

The Lions now have an 11-day break before welcoming in Stevenson and Florida Southern Thursday, March 21 to the Saint Leo Beach Volleyball Courts. The day will begin at 1 p.m. as the Lions take on Stevenson followed by a 3 p.m. match against Florida Southern. Â
