SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo women's golf headed out to the community to give back to the sport of golf on Tuesday afternoon. The Lions traveled to the First Tee Program of Tampa Bay at Rogers Park Golf Course to help the girls golf program.
"It was great to see the team interact with a younger generation of golfers," Head coach
Lyndsey Bevill mentioned. "To inspire the younger generation of future golfers is something we, myself and our student-athletes, enjoyed."
Â
Saint Leo helped the girls golf program on the range where minor adjustments to their stance, swing and grip of the club allowing the younger players to make better contact with the ball.
Â
"It was nice to give back to the community," sophomore
Synne Lauritzen stated. "To be able to show the girls what we learned when we were young and then be able to help them adjust their swings, I think they really appreciated it."Â

Â
"It was nice to help them and be able to explain how we got to where we are now, a golfer in the US and at Saint Leo," junior
Izzy Lawrence mentioned.
Â
Before telling the group of golfers how they got to Saint Leo and a member of the women's golf team, the Lions' student-athletes helped the golfers with a putting obstacle course to work on that side of the game.
Â

"Being a golfer when you're younger, it was boring, but being able to tell them that it changes when you get older I think was helpful. For them to be able to see where we are now and that we can make it fun for them inspired them to continue to playing golf," sophomore
Isabel Nesteus said.
Saint Leo women's golf will be on the course Monday, March 11 in Orlando, Fla. at the Golden Bear Club at Keene's Pointe for the Peggy Kirk Bell Memorial Invitational hosted by Rollins College.
