SAINT LEO, Fla.- No.3 Saint Leo defeated Saginaw Valley State at home for their second straight victory and third sweep of the season extending their record to 5-1.
Saint Leo earned the double match point, winning every pair. Doubles Flight No. 1
Kristyna Jurkova and
Andrea Ivanovic registered a 6-4 win. Doubles Flight No. 2
Marta Vicens Miquel and
Georgia Dobell rolled over their doubles opponents 6-2. Doubles Flight No.3
Nastasia Jedrychowski and
Anna Marija Bukina earned a win by forfeit.
Jurkova led the Lions' singles competition for the first time this season in the one spot, 6-2, 6-1. Ivanovic won second singles 6-2, 6-4 followed by Madeline Gauthier in the third slot; 6-4, 6-2. Jedrychowski recorded a win in fourth singles, 6-1, 6-2. In the fifth and sixth singles slots were Bukina and Dobell who both earned victories by forfeit.
The Lions return to action at home on Thursday, March 7 at 3:00 p.m. against No.25 Wayne State.
