MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Saint Leo women's track team returned to action Friday at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Lions posted three top-10 finishes on the day led by freshman
Georgia Clode who took third in the 400m.
Clode finished on the podium with a time of 1:04.47. She was joined in the event by freshman Giulia Amorim who took 19
th in her collegiate debut with a 1:27.41.
Senior
Noemi Anaya took home a pair of top-10 performances. She took sixth in the 3,000m after completing the distance in 10:54.15. She then took seventh in the 5,000m at 18:44.79. She was joined in the 3K by senior
Heidi-Jay Churchill, who took 35
th at 12:49.38, and freshman
Caitlin Lewandowski who finished 41
st at 13:36.35. Freshman
Paige Patterson and junior
Fatima Abu-Rumman joined Anaya in the 5K. Patterson finished 18
th after crossing the line in 19:18.69 while Abu-Rumman placed 37
th in 21:12.46.
Sophomore
Anapaula Rios Rosales took 27
th in the mile after stopping the clock at 7:00.96.
A trio of Lions competed in the 200m. Freshman Tayler Wright led the group with a 29
th place finish in a tie of 30.67. Freshman Maryleslie Javier finished one spot back in 30
th in 30.84. The final Lion in the race was freshman
Rebecca Myers who took 31
st in 31.22.
Lewandowski also competed in the 800m as she took 32
nd in 3:01.35.
The final two Lions on the track were Myers and Wright who competed in the 100m. Myers raced down the track in 14.61 to claim 59
th while Wright took 61
st in 14.68.
The Lions will close out competition at the Shamrock Invitational tomorrow, March 16.
