JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – The Saint Leo beach volleyball team was looking forward to three dual matches Friday at the UNF Invitational but the Lions day was cut short due to inclement weather in the Jacksonville area. Saint Leo completed just one match on the day, a 5-0 setback to host UNF.

The Lions will now make-up their matches against UNC Wilmington and College of Charleston tomorrow morning before getting action started in the scheduled pairs tournament.

The loss to UNF drops the Lions record to 1-4 on the season while the Ospreys improved to 4-1.

The Lions put up a strong fight in several matches including at No. 5 as
Arlaina Stephenson and
Kirsten Kaiser fell 21-15 and 25-23, forcing extra points in the deciding set. The No. 1 pair of
Beka Wachob and
Brooke Turner picked up 18 points in the opening set before falling 21-18, 21-11 while the No. 3 squad of
Anilise Fitzi and
Payton Bellano also scored 18 points in a 21-18, 21-16 defeat.

The Lions will be up early Saturday morning as they take on the College of Charleston at 8:30 a.m. before facing UNC Wilmington around 11:30 a.m. The scheduled pairs tournament will see its schedule modified depending on the length of the ensuing matches. Â
