SAINT LEO, Fla. – No. 25 Saint Leo women's golf took second at the Ball State Sunshine Invitational – Match Play event after three tiebreakers were needed to decide the winner. The Lions took second to James Madison after the total numbers of holes remaining in the three matches, with the Dukes ending with 24 holes to play and the Lions 23.
 
In a three-way tie, Saint Leo, James Madison and Princeton all finished the match play event with a 2-1-0 record where James Madison and Saint Leo finished with 11 individual matches won throughout the tournament, knocking the Tigers out of the tiebreaker decision for first place. The Dukes wound up winners after a one hole difference in total holes left to play, 24-23.
 
To start Friday off, Saint Leo finished off their second round opponent Ball State, 6-0-0, before falling to Omaha 4-1-1. Izzy Lawrence was the lone win for the Lions against the Mavericks 6-and-5.
 
No. 25 Saint Leo will return to action on Feb. 18-19 at the Lady Moc Classic in Lakeland, Fla. at the Grasslands Country Club.
