SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's swimming team opens up its 2019-20 campaign Friday and Saturday with a pair of road dual meets. The Lions, who went 7-2 last season in dual meets, travels to Rollins on Friday for a 3 p.m. meet before heading to Florida Southern for an 11 a.m. dual on Saturday.
The Lions went 3-0 last season against Rollins and Florida Southern with two of the wins coming against the Tars. Saint Leo is 5-0 over the last five years in season openers with its last loss coming in 2013 as the Lions fell to Lynn 100-95.
The Lions will look to two former CSCAA All-Americans to lead the squad including seniors
Annie Lindstrom and
Matalin Shaver who earned the honors during the 2017-18 season. Junior
Paulina Majszutowicz was the lone Lion to compete at the NCAA National Championships as season ago as she swam in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke.
The women welcome in six newcomers to the squad including a pair of transfers and four freshmen. Junior
Kodi Cabral joins the Lions after two seasons at Keiser University while sophomore Cassidi Teneyck joins the team after one season at the university of Bridgeport. The four freshmen join the squad from Florida, Germany, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
