SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo women's golf junior Francesca Santoni was named the Sunshine State Conference Women's Golfer of the Week after her performance a week ago at the Golfweek DII Fall Invitational. 

Santoni picked up her first career win in her golfing career with a six-stroke win. The Torbole sul Garda, Italy native carded a 68 (-4) to open the tournament before following that up with an even-par 72 to lead wire-to-wire at Mission Inn Resort. 

The Lions sat in third after the first round, 10 strokes off first place, before firing the lowest team score of the tournament at six-over 294. The six-over propelled the Lions ahead by one-stroke over no. 1 Dallas Baptist and two-strokes over no. 15 Florida Southern to pick up their first win of the year, second under head coach Lyndsey Bevill's guidance. 

The Lions are on the course for the Saint Leo Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club Oct. 14-15.
