SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo beach volleyball program will open up its second campaign Friday, February 15 at 3:00 pm as the squad hosts its annual Green & Gold Scrimmage on the Saint Leo Beach Volleyball Courts. Assistant coach
Erik Peterson has put together a 20-match regular season slate that features six home matches and a trio of road tournaments.

The Lions will open the 2019 regular season February 22-23 with four matches at the Stetson Spring Fling where they will face off against FIU, Eckerd, Georgia State and the host Stetson. One week later, March 1-2, the Lions will travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to participate in the UNF Invitational against yet to be determined opponents.

"We are excited to expand our schedule for our second season of competition," said Peterson. "Opening up on the road at Stetson and UNF will really allow us to challenge ourselves and play some great competition right off the bat."Â

Wednesday, March 6 will mark the first regular season home match for the Lions as they take on UT Martin at 2 p.m. on the Saint Leo Beach Volleyball Courts.

The Lions will play one final regular season tournament March 8-9 at the Battle on the Bay hosted by Eckerd. Saint Leo will also travel to Florida Southern (April 9) and Tampa (April 16) late in the season for a pair of road contests.

"We are excited to host four home events this season as well as our scrimmage," stated Peterson. "We look forward to being able to show the Saint Leo fans a great atmosphere and high level of competition."

The Lions will host Stevenson and Florida Southern on March 21 starting at 1 p.m. and will take on Eckerd and Florida Southern on March 30 with first serve scheduled for 10 a.m.

The only other remaining home contest will take place on Wednesday, April 3 at 3 p.m. as rival Tampa comes to town.

The season will conclude at the AVCA Small College Beach Championship in Tavares, Fla., April 19-21.
