BRADENTON, Fla. – The fourth-seed Saint Leo Lions women's tennis team couldn't handle the first-seed Barry Buccaneers on Friday during the Sunshine State Conference Semifinals. The 5-0 loss moves the Lions' overall record to 17-6. Saint Leo continues play tomorrow, Saturday, April 21 starting at 9:00 a.m. in the tournament's third place match against sixth-seed Nova Southeastern.
Barry swept doubles play: 8-2, 8-3, 8-6. The Buccaneers finished the match with wins from third and fourth singles. Third singles, no. 2 Sonja Larsen posted a 6-3, 6-1 decision while fourth singles, Zuza Maciejewska, registered a 6-2, 6-2.
