LAKELAND, Fla. – Saint Leo beach volleyball dropped its first ever match to Stevenson, 3-2, before defeating Florida Southern 4-1 at the Ruthven Beach on the campus of Florida Southern College.

Saint Leo (1-1) saw two pairs go undefeated on the day,
Annabella Arcari and
Allie Daul at no. 5 and
Paloma Da Silva and
Britt Sederholm at no. 4. Â

Dual 1: Stevenson 3, Saint Leo 2
Saint Leo took a quick 2-0 lead with the five's and four's ending first. The Lions saw
Annabella Arcari and
Allie Daul win the no. 5 doubles 21-14, 21-15 before
Paloma Da Silva and
Britt Sederholm won the no. 4 matchup 21-13, 21-14.

The Mustangs overpowered the Lions in the final three matchups taking no. 1 24-22, 21-8 over
Anna Garrett and
Jenya Kruglova, and no. 3's 24-22, 21-19 over
Jamee Townsend and
Brooke Turner.

The no. 3 matchup saw three sets where
Nina Vattovaz and
Reggie Van Devender took the opening set 21-13 before falling 21-17, 15-8.

Dual 2: Saint Leo 4, Florida Southern 1
The Lions came right back on the beach and defeated Sunshine State Conference foe Florida Southern 4-1. Saint Leo took wins at no. 1, no. 2, no. 4, and no. 5.

Arcari and Daul won first to go 2-0 on the day with a 21-17, 21-16 win against the Mocs.

Da Silva and Sederholm followed up with their second win of the day, with a 21-17, 21-18 two set win over Florida Southern.

Vattovaz and Van Devender added the Lions third point after winning 23-21, 21-17, just ahead of Garrett and Kruglova's win at no. 1's, 22-20, 21-15.

Townsend and Turner battled at three's, but fell 21-19, 21-15, handing the Mocs their lone point of the dual.
