SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo graduate
Marie Coors '17 was named the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, according to a release issued Wednesday by the D2CCA.
The award is the latest accolade for Coors, who has become the most decorated student-athlete in Saint Leo history.
A native of Gross-Zimmern, Germany, Coors dominated the Sunshine State Conference women's golf circuit for the past four years. The 2017 NCAA Division II women's golf individual nation champion, Coors was a two-time SSC Medalist and two-time SSC Player of the Year honoree. Over the course of her career, Coors has garnered eight All-America selections including College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division II Academic All-American of the Year. Following her final season as a Lion, Coors was named the conference's Female Athlete of the Year, Female Scholar Athlete of the Year and SSC Woman of the Year. Named the 2017 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division II Women's Golfer of the Year, her NCAA title marks the first national championship, individual or team, in Saint Leo women's athletics history.
Coors graduated in May with a degree in economics, and was the recipient of Saint Leo's Clara McDonald Olson Scholastic Excellence Award as the member of the graduating class with the highest GPA over four years at Saint Leo University.
