Gaffney, S.C. – The Saint Leo women's lacrosse team fell to No. 7 Limestone, 18-9, in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon at Saint Field on Limestone's campus.

The Lions played a strong second half, outscoring the Saints, 6-5, and playing even for the final 30 minutes of action as the Lions grabbed nine ground balls to the Saints' eight, and both teams won six draws in the second period.

Saint Leo saw Kelsey Burns and Katherine Larson both recorded two goals for the Lions, while Abbie Ross tallied three points with a goal and two assists.

1H | Forty-five seconds after the opening draw, Limestone was awarded a free position goal on a shooting space violation, giving the hosts the first score of the game. Limestone would tack on their second with 27:03 on the clock. A second free position goal would make it 3-0 for the hosts, forcing Saint Leo to call a timeout. A move behind the cage found an open cutting Saints player for the fourth Limestone goal. Limestone would extend to a 7-0 lead before an Abbie Ross free position goal would get the Lions on the board. The Saints would take an 11-1 lead before the Kelsey Burns would tally a score. A behind-the-back goal by Limestone made it a 12-2 game before Emily Pittenger would snag an FPS goal. The Saints would make it 13-3 to head into the half. 2H | The Saints would open with the first goal of the second half, making it 14-3. Freshman Delaney Chrisco was able to find the back of the net for the Lions off a pass from Caroline Fraser, getting another back for the Lions. Limestone would score back-to-back goals, making it 16-4, with 20:15 left to play. The Lions followed with back-to-back goals of their own as Abbie Ross found Kelsey Burns for the score, while Katherine Larson added a free position goal. The Saints were able to snag two more before the Lions would close the game on a three-goal run. The run started on a Limestone mishap as Fraser looked to pass to her teammates from behind the cage. The Saints keeper reached up to stop the pass but deflected the ball into the net. Saint Leo then saw Abbie Ross find Larson for her second goal of the game. With 10 seconds remaining, Kaylah Walstad sunk the final goal of the game. | Limestone 18-9
