#2 Barry too much for #3 Men's Tennis

Miami Shores, Fla. – The No. 3 Saint Leo men's tennis team fell at the hand of No. 2 Barry, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon in a Sunshine State Conference match at the Buccaneers Tennis Center.

In doubles play, Barry jumped out to a 3-0 lead, taking No. 1 and 3 flights by the score of 8-4.

Francisco Aparicio and Oskar Nurmio put up a fight at No. 2 Flight, but ultimately fell, 9-8 (8-6) in the tiebreak.

In singles, Aparicio retired in Flight 3, giving Barry its' fourth point of the afternoon. The Bucs then took Flights No. 4, 5 and 6 in a steady fashion.

At No. 2's, Vincent Suillerot put up a fight against No. 11-ranked singles player Carlos Gomez, taking the first set, 6-2. Gomez took the second, 6-4, and the third, 10-8.

Thomas Grinberg also had his hands full at Flight No. 1, as he faced the No. 2 singles player in the nation in Ahmed Triki. The two battled in both sets, but Triki took the win, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).

The Lions return to action on Wednesday, March 29 with a 3 p.m. match at Rollins.
