#18 Men's lacrosse downs Coker, 14-5, on the road

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The No. 18 Saint Leo men's lacrosse team took down Coker College on Saturday afternoon, 14-5, in non-conference action in Hartsville, S.C.

Saint Leo saw eight different players score, including three by junior Jake Gilmour.

Charlie Kurtenbach led with four points in the game, scoring two goals and adding two assists, while Zach Lysyck added three points with two goals and an assist. Anthony Visintin and Josh Kaufling both also added two goals.

How it happened…

1Q | Jake Kavanagh started things off fast, scoring just one minute into the game. Less than a minute following, Josh Kaufling added the Lions second goal. The Lions would rattle off a barrage of goals from all over the front of the net before the period ended.| Saint Leo 7-0

2Q | The Lions continued their scoring, tallying their eighth and ninth-straight goals before the Cobras were able to net their first goals of the game, scoring back-to-back points. The Lions continued to dominate the middle of the field as well, forcing the Cobras into three failed clear attempts. | Saint Leo 9-2

3Q | Coker opened the second half by scoring their third-straight goal. Almost seven minutes passed before the next offensive action, and again it was Coker with the score. A Kyle Pauwels man-down goal ended the run by the Cobras and close out the quarter. | Saint Leo 10-4

4Q | The Lions picked up their offense to start the final quarter, scoring three straight goals, two by Charlie Kurtenbach, and one by Jake Gilmour. Coker tallied their fifth goal of the game with a minute left to play. Bruce Preeschl tacked on his second goal of the season with just 3o seconds of action left.

Points to Note
The Lions won 14-20 faceoffs, led by Mitch Wilson who won seven. Freshman Austin DiPietro added four wins on five attempts, while Jake Kavanagh was a perfect three for three.
Thomas Tatarian claimed his second win of the season, recording seven saves.
Saint Leo has scored double-digit goals in all three of their games this season.
