Box Score 2 FT. LAUDERDALE, FLA. – The Saint Leo volleyball improved to 3-0 on the season following a 3-0 sweep of Adelphi, 25-16, 25-22, and 25-23, at the Nova Southeastern Sharks Invitational on Saturday morning.
Saint Leo commanded the whole match, holding Adelphi to sub-.200 hitting in the opening two sets while hitting .462 in first themselves, and putting away 17 kills on .278 in the second.
In the third set, Adelphi put up a fight, keeping it close by putting down 11 kills on a clip on .267 with only three errors. But the Lions countered with 18 kills and a clip of .263.
Over the entire match, Saint Leo hit an impressive .320 with 48 kills. They also out-dug their opponent, 41-31.
Offensively, the Lions were led by senior Hope Lemon, who put down a match-high 18 kills on a clip of .438. Freshman Victoria Omoregie put away six kills on 10 attempts while not committing an error. Freshman setter Anna Garrett dished out 40 assists while adding six digs.
Defensively, senior Jamee Townsend scooped up a team-high 11 digs, and freshman Annabella Arcari tallied three blocks, two of which were solo blocks.
Saint Leo returns to action on Saturday afternoon as they take on Arkansas-Monticello at 4:30 p.m.
