Women's soccer picks up OT win at Lynn Saturday night

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Genevieve Gignac's diving header three minutes into overtime lifted the Saint Leo women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory at Lynn on Saturday night at Bobby Campbell Stadium. Natalie Melillo had a helping hand in both of the Lions' goals in Boca Raton. 

Melillo scored the first goal of the night for Saint Leo in the 82nd minute before taking a long throw in, in Fighting Knight territory. Melillo's throw found Katie Waddell who bicycle kicked it towards goal before a diving Gignac redirected it to the right post for the game-winning goal.

  • Natalie Melillo found the back of the net for the second time this year. Genevieve Gignac tallied her second goal of the year with her head, again.
  • Julia Ortiz moves to 3-0 on the year after recording five saves on 10 Lynn shots.

  • Donish Cole gave the Knights hope in the second half with the first goal of the game.
  • Lynn keeper Alexa Downie made seven saves in the 15 shots from Saint Leo.
