TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 1 Saint Leo men's tennis team is moving on the Sunshine State Conference championship match after a 5-0 take down of the No. 5 seed Rollins College in the semifinals match.
Saint Leo opened with a 3-0 lead in the SSC Semifinal after doubles play.
Jaime Bueno and Egor Panyushkin made quick work of the No. 2's match, taking down Robin Marchione and Adrian Di Felice, 8-2.
Alex Theiler and Alberto Barroso-Campos, the No. 1 doubles pairing in the nation, followed with an 8-3 win at No. 1 over Anton Bettink and Casey Austgen.
Francisco Aparicio and Oskar Nurmio had a longer match, taking No. 3's, 8-6.
Guillaume Vanelven gave Saint Leo their fourth point, after taking the first set 6-0, and seeing his opponent retire.
Bueno took the No. 4 pairing with a 6-3, 6-1, win to seal the game for Saint Leo.
Saint Leo will play in the championship match at 2 p.m. versus the winner of Lynn and Barry.
