SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 3 Saint Leo women's tennis team finished their regular season on Saturday with a 9-0 sweep of visiting Palm Beach Atlantic.
The Lions move to 20-1 on the season, and finished the regular season on an 18-match winning streak.
Saint Leo opened with senior Pauline Helgesson and junior Marine Beugre-Guyot teaming up to win the No. 2 doubles spot, 8-2. Senior Coralie Pesenti teamed with freshman Madeleine Gauthier for an 8-4 win at No. 3's and senior Isabella Robbiani and junior Anastasia Wagner took No. 1 doubles, 8-6.
Saturday was also Senior Day for the Lions and after doubles play, Helgesson showed her dominance with the first singles victory at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Pesenti added a 6-1, 6-0 win of her own for a last regular season match of her career. Robbaini also claimed a Senior Day win with a 6-4, 6-4 take down a No. 1. Robbiani finished the regular season undefeated in singles action.
The Lions also saw Wagner grab a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 3's, Beugre-Guyot earn the No. 2 win with a score of 7-6 (7), 7-5, and Gauthier wrapped up the scoring with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
The Lions will play the winner of Florida Southern and Barry on Friday, April 29 at 9 a.m for the Sunshine State Conference tournament.
