#2 Lions take down #6 ERAU, 5-1

DAYTONA, Fla. – The No. 2 Saint Leo men's tennis team took down host No. 6 Embry-Riddle, 5-1, in a shortened regional match on Tuesday evening.

The Lions started the day up 2-1 following doubles play. The Lions saw the pairing of Francisco Aparicio and Oskar Nurmio snag the first point with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles. Egor Panyushkin and Jaime Bueno upset the No. 21 pairing of Fabian Zierleyn and Carlos Becke, 8-4, but the Eagles got their revenge as their No. 13-ranked pairing upset Saint Leo's No. 2-ranked duo at No. 1's.

In singles action, Alex Theiler responded with a quick 6-1, 6-1 topping Fabian Zierleyn at No. 2 singles. Bueno built off his strong doubles performance to take a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Panyushkin followed his double partner's lead and took No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2 to end the match.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, April 23 for Senior Day versus Palm Beach Atlantic at 1 p.m.
