#2 Lions paw Panthers down, 8-1

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The No. 2 Saint Leo men's tennis team took down Florida Tech, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon, moving to 18-1, 6-0 in the Sunshine State Conference.

Saint Leo opened with a 2-1 lead after doubles play, but a full sweep of singles closed out the match for the Lions.

Alberto Barroso-Campos and Alex Theiler took an 8-2 win to earn the first point of doubles before FIT took an 8-6 win at No. 3's to even things up. 

Egor Panyushkin and Jaime Bueno added the second point for Saint Leo with an 8-5 win at No. 2's. 

In singles play, Barroso-Campos took down Aria Canadell, 6-3, 6-1. Bueno followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4's, before Theiler sealed the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2.

Panyushkin then added the sixth point for the Lions with a 6-3, 6-4 win, and Guillaume Vanelven tacked on a 6-1, 6-3 win. Francisco Aparicio closed out singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.

The Lions head to No. 6 Embry-Riddle on Tuesday, April 19 for a 4 p.m. match.
