SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's lacrosse team jumped in to the USILA/NIKE 2016 DII Coaches Poll this week, finding themselves at No. 20 after defeating the then-ranked No. 11 Pfeiffer Falcons, 9-8.
Saint Leo was led by senior captain Dylan Yonts, who had his hand in seven of the nine goals, dishing out two assists and netting five goals. Eric Lee led the Lions in caused turnover with two, and he picked up two ground balls. Keeper Dave Moore recorded seven saves giving him his 400th career save.
The Lions are currently 3-1 on the season and are one of three ranked Sunshine State Conference teams as Tampa came in at No. 5 this week, and Lynn followed at No. 17. Florida Tech, Rollins and Florida Southern are all also receiving votes, showing the strength of the SSC.
The Lions are back in action on Tuesday evening with a 7PM match-up with the visiting Coker Cobras.
