SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's tennis team swept Eckerd College in the Lions first Sunshine State Conference match of the season, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions opened up 3-0 following doubles play seeing the pairings of Natalia Siedliska and Anastasia Wagner, Isabella Robbiani and Coralie Pesenti, and Marine Beugre-Guyot and Pauline Helgesson find success on the court.
Siedliska and Wagner took down Emily Fridrik and Mary Ann Aaron, 8-1, while Robbiani and Pesenti dominated Lauren Bourgault and Isabella Wong, 8-0, and Beugre-Guyot and Helgesson matched that score with a win over Maddie Carlson and Gabby Hartmann.
Beugre-Guyot topped Bourgault, 6-1, 6-0, for the first singles win, while Robbiani sealed the match topping Aaron, 6-0, 6-0.
Wagner and Fridrik were the only other match to be played to full length, with Wagner winning 6-2, 6-1.
In the No. 4 spot, Madaleine Gauthier took down Wong, 8-1, while Pesenti topped Carlson 8-0, and Katherine Zaatini topped Hartman, 8-0 as well.
Lions host Ferris State on Wednesday, March 9 at 2 P.M.
