DENVER, Colo. – The No. 3 Saint Leo women's tennis team took down No. 9 Hawaii Pacific, 5-2, after a strong outing in doubles play.
The Lions jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles, claiming the No. 1 and 2 spots. Natalia Siedliska and Anastasia Wager took the No. 1 slot, 8-5. In the No. 2 slot, Isabella Robbiani and Coralie Pesenti teamed up to take the win in 8-5 as well.
The HPU Sharks took the No. 3 doubles spot, 8-3.
Siedliska took down the Sharks No. 1 Kristyna Hancarova, 6-3, 6-0, giving the Lions a 3-1 lead. Robbiani added another point, winning No. 2's 7-5, 6-4.
The Sharks added a point, taking the No. 3 match up, 6-3, 6-4. But the Lions responded with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win from Marine Beugre-Guyot helped the Lions seal the game.
The Lions return to action on Sunday, March 20 with a match versus #22 Midwestern State.
