ST. AUGUSTSINE, Fla. – The No. 3 Saint Leo women's tennis team fell at the hands of No. 16 Flagler on the road Saturday afternoon, falling 5-4.
The Lions took a 2-1 deficit after the double matches, earning a lone win with the pairing of Natalia Siedliska and Coralie Pesenti. Siedliska and Pesenti took down Thaisa Pereira and Lizanne Jinkertz, 8-4.
Flagler jumped out to a 3-1 lead after taking the No. 6 spot in the singles before the Lions evened the match with wins in the No. 1 and 2 spots.
Siedliska took down Kelly Stewart, 6-3, 6-3, to move the score to 3-2, while Marine Beugre-Guyot followed with a win over Mary Jo Nanti, 6-4, 6-2 to give the match a 3-3 tie.
Flagler sealed the match with wins in the No. 4 and 5 spots, before Isabella Robbiani was able to take down Jinkertz, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
The Lions move to 2-1 on the season, and host D1 Seton Hall on Thursday, March 3 at 2PM.
