Volleyball's big numbers help get by ERAU, 3-1

DAYTONA, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's volleyball team posted career-high numbers all around the lineup on Friday evening as they took down Embry-Riddle, 3-1; 25-17, 29-31, 25-22, 26-24, in non-conference action at the ICI Center in Daytona, Fla.

Friday night was a statistical dream for the Lions as they put down 72 kills in just four sets to average 18.00 kills per set while hitting a clip of .246, They added a season-high 111 digs, dished out 69 assists, eight aces, and five team blocks.

Saint Leo's 72 kills are the most by the team in a four-set match this season, and second most overall. Their assists total matched the same feats.

Four Lions posted double-figure kills on the evening a first on the season. Freshman Victoria Omoregie put down a career-high 19 kills on a .516 hitting percentage. Her clip stands as the highest on the season by any player who has tallied 12 or more kills in a match. Senior Katie Adamson set a new career-high as well, putting down 12 kills on a .355-clip. The middle added three digs, two blocks, an ace, and an assist to her stat line. Hope Lemon and Britt Sederholm rounded out the four in double figures as Lemon put down 14 kills and Sederholm added 11. Both outsides tallied double-doubles as well as they finished with 13 and 12 digs, respectively. This marks Lemon's third double-double of the season and Sederholm's fourth.

Running the offense was junior Maddy Powell who continued her strong play. The setter dished out a career-best 62 assists, adding nine digs and six kills.

Saint Leo's defensive efforts were anchored by libero Jamee Townsend and defensive specialist Jenya Kruglova. Townsend tallied 33 digs, while Kruglova scooped up a career-high 26 balls. This marks the first time this season the Lions have had two players surpass the 20-dig mark in the same match.

The Lions tallied 21 more kills than the Eagles and added five more service aces. The Eagles were led by Amanda Saunders who tallied a 20 kill, 25 dig performance.

Saint Leo returns to action on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. as they head to Rollins to return to Sunshine State Conference action.
