SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo women's basketball struggled to find its offensive rhythm and dropped a 79-42 decision to Sunshine State Conference rival Rollins College, Saturday afternoon at the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
Junior Chelsy Springs sparked the Lions with 14 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Mary Redmond tacked on 10 points including three field goals from beyond the arc. The Lions were held to just 28.8 percent shooting from the field, and committed 21 turnovers that led to 31 Rollins points.

How It Happened
1Q | Rollins shot 40 percent from the field in the opening quarter, but only had a three-point lead over Saint Leo, 7-4, as the frame passed the 5:00 mark. A back-to-back three-pointer and jumper by Jen Farrell gave the Tars an eight-point advantage, before Alysia Johnson responded for the Lions and cut the margin to six. 2Q | An early bucket by Asia Royster briefly brought Saint Leo to within 13 of Rollins, but the Tars would respond emphatically over the rest of the quarter. Rollins scored seven straight, including a three-pointer by Farrell, before a conventional three-point play by Springs snapped the Tars' run. 3Q | Saint Leo came out of the locker room with more focus on offense, but were unable to convert their first six field goal attempts while Rollins continued to build its lead. A Julia Ingler jumper at the 7:47 mark stretched the Tars' lead to over 30 points, 48-17. Gabby Ortiz responded for Saint Leo with a foul shot, only to see the Tars score the next six points. The Lions got some momentum midway through the quarter with a Joné Akins jumper and a three by Springs, and Saint Leo trailed 54-23 with 4:10 to play. 4Q | The Lions' offense clicked to open the final quarter, as Saint Leo scored nine of the first 12 points. Royster knocked down the second of two free throws, and later added a layup, while a traditional three-point play by Springs and Mary Redmond's trey brought the Lions back to within 30, 65-35, with 7:49 to play. - Mary Redmond's 10 points versus the Tars marked her fourth straight double digit scoring effort, and her seventh this season.

For the Tars
Rollins had four players in double figures, led by Julia Ingler with 16. Jasmine Stone rounded out the starters in double-digits with 11 points to go with four assists. Cassidy Bailey and Jen Farrell came off the bench to score 14 and 12 points respectively.
The Tars fired at a 44.1 percent clip (26-of-59), including eight three-pointers. Rollins enjoyed a 50 to 28 command of the boards.
