Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.- After a brief rain delay, Saint Leo baseball battled their way to a 15-12 loss to the Buccaneers of Barry University this Friday night in the first of a three game Sunshine State Conference series this weekend at Feinbloom Field.
Saint Leo moves to 29-11 on the season and 10-9 in the SSC while Barry moves to 18-22 and 6-10 in the conference.
The game started hot for the Lions with a Dylan Harris home run in the top of the first. It was the sophomore third baseman's third of the season and second in as many games. Harris finished the night 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, three runs scored, and a stolen base.
Also contributing home runs tonight were sophomore Troy Sieber and junior Taylor Perez. For Sieber, it marked his 13th long ball of the season and 52nd RBI. The Salem, New Jersey native later doubled for his 53rd RBI. Sieber ended the night 2-for-4 with a walk, three RBI, and two runs scored.
Shortstop Perez finished a double shy of the cycle in his 3-for-5 effort, which produced one RBI and three runs scored. Perez has hit safely in his last six straight games.
Senior Liam O'Sullivan dropped to 7-5 on the season after giving up seven runs on seven hits in 2.0 innings pitched. Shane Haight pitched the majority of relief going 3.0 innings allowing five runs on five hits. Brett Nizamoff, Eoin McAvinchey, and Dan Twitty each pitched an inning in tonight's loss.
Jonathan Quintana and Kyle Pangallo led the Buccaneers charge each with three hit, three RBI performances.
Nate Greve (3-3) picked up his third win of the season after spreading six hits and five runs over 4.1 innings pitched. Andy Rohloff allowed seven runs on eight hits in 3.0 innings before Joeanthony Rivera made his 13th appearance for 1.2 scoreless innings to close out the game.
The Lions and the Bucs will meet tomorrow, April 18 at 1:00 p.m. for a doubleheader to conclude the three-game series.
