Sharks end Lions' home win streak at 11

Box Score

SAINT LEO, Fla.- Saint Leo baseball's home-win streak was halted at 11 tonight as the visiting Nova Southeastern Sharks defeated the Lions 6-1 at Thomas B. Southard Stadium.

Junior righty Michael Dunnigan will pick up his first loss of the year as he went 5.1 innings with eight hits given up leading to five runs (all earned). The stat line however isn't entirely indicative of how Dunnigan pitched, as he was able to record eight strikeouts on the night.

Picking up his fourth win of the season was Nova Southeastern pitcher Roberto Baroniel. The senior righty went a full seven giving up all three Lions' hits and one run.

In the bottom of the fourth, centerfielder Cole Stancil led off with a double. Senior Jordan Taylor walked and Stancil stole third on a past ball. With runners on the corner and one out, Sophomore first baseman Troy Sieber hit a deep fly ball to center. On the catch, Stancil tagged up and sprinted home for Saint Leo's only run of the game.

The Lions will regroup and try to even the series tomorrow, March 7 at 1:00 p.m. in the first of two games to be played on the day. The series will conclude with the second game of the doubleheader beginning around 4:00 p.m.
