PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 3 Saint Leo women's tennis team earned a 5-2 bounce-back victory over No. 18 Midwestern State on Thursday afternoon at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
The Lions improve to 12-3 on the season while the Mustangs fall to 6-5 for the 2015 campaign.
Isabella Robbiani and Gabrielle Paul bested Lauren Pineda and Lindsay Nochowicz by an 8-2 score while Maria Benkirane and Marine Beugre-Guyot mirrored with an 8-6 win over Madeline Schorlemmer and Paige Boykin. The Lions took a 2-1 lead into the singles round.
Anastasia Wagner trumped Taylor Coffman by a pair of 6-2 sets while Paul ousted Nochowicz by a 6-3 and 6-1 margin. Paula Montoya clinched the win after sweeping her singles bout against Schloremmer by 6-3 and 6-4 scores.
Saint Leo won by a 5-2 final in a rain-shortened match.
The Green and Gold will return home to battle No. 13 NYIT on Saturday, March 21 slated for a 1 p.m. start time at the Saint Leo Tennis Complex.
