Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala.- Another strong showing by Saint Leo has them sitting at 8-0 on the season after defeating Albany St. in the first game of the 2015 Montevallo Classic by a score of 17-3. Saint Leo scored in eight of the nine innings.
The offensive onslaught was led by third basemen Dylan Harris who went a perfect 4-4 on the day including two walks, two RBI, and scoring four of the team's 17 runs. The sophomore from Land O Lakes, Florida was a double shy of hitting for the cycle. Continuing his fast start to the season was Cole Stancil, going 2-3 with a walk, three RBI, three runs scored, and one home run. Catcher Dale Irving anchored the lineup with a 3-4 performance picking up two RBI and scoring three runs.
Senior pitcher Liam O'Sullivan received his third start of the season as well as the win, also his third. The South Grafton, Massachusetts native pitched a full six innings giving up six hits, two runs (both earned), one walk, and registering four strikeouts. In relief, Dan Twitty made his first appearance of the season in the seventh inning and was able to go one, two, three, while recording one strikeout. Freshman Robbie Cook and Junior Eoin McAvinchey handled the final two innings to secure the win for Saint Leo.
The Lions are back in action tomorrow, February 14, first at 3:30 p.m. eastern time, against the host institution University of Montevallo, and then again at 7:00 p.m. against Lindenwood University. The game against Lindenwood was originally scheduled for Sunday, February 15, but was moved up due to potential inclement weather.
