BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's basketball team fell 64-54 to the Shaw University on Sunday afternoon in the Lions final game of the Lynn Holiday Classic. Saint Leo led the Bears heading into the intermission, but a 68.8-percent shooting performance that saw Shaw hit 11 of 16 shots, proved to be the difference in the end. Saint Leo won both the second and the fourth, but it was not enough to overcome the third quarter gap.

1Q | The first quarter opened up very even. Neither team could find a rhythm as Saint Leo shot just 23.8-percent from the field, and Shaw shot 23.5-percent. Saint Leo forced the Bears into six turnovers, while recording five steals. Izabell Skoogh hit the Lions lone three-point field goal to gain a three point advantage that they did not relinquish during the period. 4Q | Saint Leo relied on their two post players to attempt to fight back. Chelsy Springs added nine points, while Abby Peterson added six of her career-high 10 points. Points to Note
- Springs 21-point performance was her fifth twenty-plus point game performance of the season.
- Peterson has a career-best game, netting her first ever double-digit scoring performance with 10 points. She added five rebounds and a steal.
- In her first career start, Maranie Harris-Kuiper recorded two points, five rebounds, and added one block.
- Alysia Johnson had one of the most productive games of her career, scoring eight points, grabbing five boards, recorded three steals, and two blocks.
- The Lions limited themselves to just 14 turnovers in the game, and recorded nine steals and forcing 14 turnovers as well.
- Saint Leo was near perfect from the free throw line, hitting 11 of 12 attempts.
- Saint Leo out-scored the Bears in both the second and fourth quarters, but the Bears third quarter performance was large enough to maintain the win.
For the Bears
- The Bears saw three different players' record double-digits. Kaula Jacks scored 16 points, adding eight rebounds, and four assists. Both Michelle Wright and Aaliyah Mercer added 11 points.
- Shaw dished out 15 assists, while scoring 36 points in the paint. The Bears also out-scored Saint Leo on fast-break points, 10-0.
