Lions top PBA on the road

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Just a few minutes into the first overtime period was all the Saint Leo women's soccer team needed as they tallied a mark in the win column, taking down host Palm Beach Atlantic, 2-1, on a golden goal.

How It Happened

Arielle Kabangu got the visiting Lions on the board first as she took the ball and beat the keeper in a one-on-one battle, netting the ball to give the Lions the lead. | SLU 1-0 |
73' | Just minutes later, the hosts evened the score as Elyse Mueller received the ball form M.E. Stewart. Mueller took the ball and with a cheeky play, equalized the score. | 1-1 |
OT | Just under three minutes into the first overtime period, the Lions were given a free kick opportunity, and as she's done many times this season, Selena Jaimes stepped up to take the kick, and put it back in the net to bring the game to a close. |SLU 2-1| 

Points to Note 

  • Kabangu recorded her sixth goal of the season, and now has 45 goals for her career. She trails third place all time by one goal, and trails the record holder by seven goals (52). 
  • Jaimes now has four goals this season. She only had one career-goal prior to this season. All four of her goals have come on direct free kicks.
  • Saint Leo out-shot PBA 17-10, 8-5 on goal.
