ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Despite a career performance from Alexa Griffith-Hardy, the Saint Leo University volleyball team fell 3-2 at the hands of Eckerd College, Saturday evening.
The loss evens the Lions' Sunshine State Conference tally at 2-2 and dips their overall record to 7-4 while the host Tritons earn their first conference win (1-4 SSC) and improve to 8-5 on the season.
Rightside hitter Griffith-Hardy notched a career-high 26 kills at an astounding .512 attack percentage. The senior posted a pair of solo blocks and a service ace, totaling another career-high 29 points.
Senior Libero Yaidimar Santiago amassed 18 digs across the match but the Lions were unable to pick up the win.
Eckerd turned to a balanced-attack that saw five players reach double-digit kills. The momentum of Griffith-Hardy was not enough to take the match and Saint Leo was handed its second conference loss.
The Lions head home to host No. 25 Palm Beach Atlantic on Tuesday, Sept. 30th for a 7 p.m. contest. Live stats will be available through www.saintleolions.com.
