The Lions will play the second of two non-conference games against conference foes tonight when they battle Eckerd College at the Turley Athletic Complex in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Saint Leo is coming off a seven-day layoff, following last Wednesday's home clash with No. 11 Rollins. Tonight's game will be the Lions' final non-conference tune-up before Sunshine State Conference play starts on Saturday evening with Nova Southeastern.

Pacing the Lions will be sophomore forward Arielle Kabangu, who is 13th among NCAA Division II goals leaders with six. Freshman forward Katie Waddell has five goals to her credit this season, and checks in 26th among Division II leaders. Both players also rank among the top 20 in Division II in total points.

Has a team, Saint Leo is 17th among Division II leaders in scoring offense.

Saint Leo won a pair of meetings last season over Eckerd – 5-0 at home in a non-conference clash, and 9-1 in St. Petersburg for the teams' SSC contest. Those two wins avenged a 2012 loss to Eckerd at home, which broke the Lions' six-game winning streak over the Tritons.

Eckerd enters tonight's match with losses in each of their last two outings – both by shutout. Prior to those two losses, the Tritons had won three straight matches – also by shutout. The Tritons' last win was a 9-0 victory over Johnson & Wales-North Miami on September 13 at the Turley Athletic Complex.

Senior midfielder/forward Arie Anahory paces the Tritons with eight goals and six assists for 22 points, while junior defender Michelle Spesshardt has contributed four goals this season. Junior forward Katie Shafer has chipped in three goals and three assists over Eckerd' five games this season.
